The IDER lab recently celebrated the successful proposal defense of our second PhD student, Yvonne Love Cariño! On June 11, Yvonne outlined her dissertation plan to study the systematics and evolution of script lichens. Her project will provide a taxonomic revision of the Phaeographis and allies group, niche modeling for Philippine lichens, and explorations of evolutionary trade-offs in key reproductive traits. Her questions are super exciting and address fundamental evolutionary questions in a woefully understudied, but exceedingly interesting, group of quintessential symbiotic organisms.

Congratulations, Yvonne!
